MBTA #8903

MBTA Bus #8903 Arrives in Maine (12/07/07)
Acquired over a year ago, #8903 was leased back to the MBTA for use in their reserve fleet. Back in our hands and in decent shape the bus was driven up to Maine on December 7th. This is our second Boston RTS to arrive on the property, the other being MBTA #8400, and our third RTS in the bus collection.

Library container

Library Activity (11/16/07)
The Library Committee is keeping busy moving materials out of the old library building. A container has been outfitted with shelving for temporary storage of the library collection. Donated by Tom Hughes, the shelves came from the public library up in Bath.

August Bus and Trackless Update (8/26/07)
This August update for Bus and Trackless news around the Museum starts with the arrival of the two Boston Flyers. With the progress of trackless activities on the property, we're working on the development of a loop for them next to the South Boston Carbarn, which clearing has been started.

1932 Renault bus from Paris, France

Paris bus arrives at the Museum (6/15/07)
The long awaited arrival of the 1932 Renault bus from Paris has finally come. In addition to adding to the international collection that Seashore has, other news includes Seashore's trackless operation getting Johnstown No. 713 running. Our museum is one of only two museum's in the United States that runs trackless trolleys.

Retired LVT Motorman visits Seashore (6/9/07)
Celebrating 90 years old and getting the gift of the Be A Motorman Program by his daughter, Museum volunteers provide a birthday gift of their own.

Overhead Line Work Overhead Line Work (5/1/07)
Danny Cohen, Jack Coyle, and Tom Santarelli worked on the overhead wire on the Butler Grove Lead and on the trackless trolley wire up towards Central Carbarn. Many thanks goes out to this trio for getting the overhead ready for opening day and for operation of our trackless trolleys this summer.

MBTA Bus and Trackless Acquisitions (4/12/07)
The Bus and Trackless Trolley Department is expanding, adding to the growing collection of Boston vehicles. These vehicles should be on the Museum property this summer, so keep an eye out for these new additions during your visit this season!
