Trolley Operator Open House(s) - October 21 & 23, 1999

The Seashore Trolley Museum is looking for volunteers who would like to operate a real old fashion trolley. Trolley operators choose from dozens of cars to operate, including; a 1924 from Boston, MA, 1904 from York County, ME, 1925 from Philadelphia, PA, 1914 from Dallas, TX, 1907 from Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN, 1907 Chicago, IL, 1924 from New Orleans, LA.

These historic trolleys have been authentically restored by artisans (volunteers and employees) at the museum. The Trolley Museum is holding two Open House opportunities to introduce prospective volunteers to the fun and excitement of operating trolley cars, Thursday, October 21 from 9am to noon and Saturday, October 23, 9am to noon. Open Houses will go on rain or shine.

Each Open House will feature an orientation meeting followed by a tour of the restoration shop. The orientation will conclude with individual instruction and hands-on operation of a trolley car.  All with any interest in volunteering for any facit of the Museum operations are welcome and encouraged to attend this informational Open House.

The Seashore Trolley Museum has been operated by the New England Electric Railway Historical Society since 1939 as a 501 (c) 3 non-profit educational institution.  Its premier car, Car #31 will celebrate its 100th birthday in 2000.
