SUMMER READING PROGRAM TO BE
CELEBRATED AT
SPECIAL GUEST WILL BE FORMER FIRST
LADY BARBARA BUSH
KENNEBUNKPORT, ME - The Seashore
Trolley Museum will host a reading celebration on Friday, August 24th
with former First Lady Barbara Bush as honored guest.
Her appearance marks the completion of
a summer reading program conducted by all 70
public libraries with strong reading programs for children in York and
Cumberland counties.
Mrs. Bush is perhaps the foremost and
best-known advocate of reading and literacy in America.
She will read from a popular children’s book, “Grandfather’s
Trolley,” which is a key feature in the children’s section of the Trolley
Museum bookstore.
The author, Bruce McMillan, will also
be on hand. Entertainment will be
provided by well-known children’s musicians Rick Charette and Sergei Novikov.
The event, to be held from 1 to 4 p.m., is co-sponsored by the Museum, the Portland Press Herald/Maine Sunday Telegram and the York County Coast Star.
