Five Unique York County Museums to offer new "Passport Program"

York County:  Five local museums have banded together this summer to offer "Blast From The Past", a passport program for the community to discover the unique heritage of York County.  The range of exhibits covers life in idyllic fishing villages, in the homes of ship builders and merchants, and modes of travel in York County.  The five participating museums are: the Seashore Trolley Museum in Kennebunkport, which houses an extensive collection of antique trolleys, the Old York Historical Society in York, the Brick Store Museum in Kennebunk, the Kennebunkport Historical Society in Kennebunkport, and the York Institute Museum in Saco.

"Travelers" can receive their "Passport" at the first participating Museum or Historical Society they visit.  Upon admission to each museum, a special cancellation seal is stamped on the applicable museum's page in the passport.  The first 100 passport holders to have all five museums' pages validated will receive a free limited edition "Have a Blast" T-shirt.

As an added bonus, holders of fully validated passports will be entered in a grand prize drawing, to be held September 7th, to win a miniature dory filled with many fabulous prizes donated by York County businesses.

Included in the passport is a "buy one - get one free" coupon for an ice cream at participating York County McDonald's restaurants.  This program gives area residents and visitors the opportunity to "Have a Blast discovering York County's past".

"We are thrilled to be working with these four other great community Museums and Historical Societies on this exciting new program," commented Seashore Trolley Museum Director Phil Morse.

Founded in 1939, the Seashore Trolley Museum collects, restores, exhibits and demonstrates electric trolleys and other public transportation vehicles. The Museum was the first one of its kind in the world to preserve a public transportation vehicle and today houses the "National Collection of American Streetcars".
