  May Day Music Festival at the Seashore Trolley Museum

A Benefit Concert for the School Around Us

May 21, 2000   10am-6pm

  The Seashore Trolley Museum and the School Around Us will co-host their annual May Day Music Festival again this year complete with eight separate musical acts. The celebration is all part of the Trolley Museum's 61st Anniversary and the 30th Anniversary for the School Around Us. 

Concertgoers will be treated to an antique trolley ride out to the concert field, located at “Meserve’s Crossing” along the restored trolley line serviced by the Seashore Trolley Museum. 

This great event originated in 1972 as the Maine Made May Day Music Festival. All of the bands have graciously donated their time to benefit the School Around Us. Music will range from children’s songs from the Sea, to blues, to rock, Oldies, and Folk.

There will be performances by: The Velveeta’s - sharp oldies & smooth originals, Salt River Trio – Blues, Jeff Merrill and Friends – Folk, The Fizz – Rock, The Folks Together – Ol’ Tyme, Frank Gotwals – Folk, Friend Street Band – Rock, and May Day Band – Folk.

The cost of this great event is only $10 for adults and FREE for all children age 14 and under. $10 includes free parking and shuttle service to the Seashore Trolley Museum from designated locations, an Antique Trolley ride to the concert field and admission to all eight musical acts.

Advance ticket sales are available at The Seashore Trolley Museum and Record Rendezvous. This is a fundraising concert for the School Around Us located on Log Cabin Road in Arundel.

Offsite parking will be located at M.L. Day School on Limerick Road, the Limerick Road Business Park, and the Arundel Barn Playhouse. Shuttle bus service will be available starting at 9:45AM and run until 7:30PM approximately every 15 min.

There will be food concessions onsite including veggie & regular hot dogs, chips, drinks, baked goods, all natural ice cream and lots more. There will be juried arts and crafts booths and displays with artisans selling their work. 

For an extra $5 concertgoers can be treated to all of the Seashore Trolley Museum’s exhibits, numerous displays and unlimited trolley rides all day. No pets or alcohol will be permitted.

The School Around Us is a progressive/alternative school in its 30th year of operation. Based in Arundel/Kennebunkport Maine, this private holistic K-8th grade program is certified by the State of Maine.

The Seashore Trolley Museum has been operated by the New England Electric Railway Historical Society since 1939 as a 501© 3 non-profit educational institution. The museum will reopen for its 61st season May 6, 2000.
