Trolley Operator Open House

April 13, 2000 - 9:30a.m.

 

The Seashore Trolley Museum is looking for volunteers who would like to operate a real old fashion trolley car or become a museum guide. Operators may operate one of dozens of trolleys. Several of the available cars are: a 1924 trolley car from Boston, MA, a 1904 car from York County, ME, a 1925 from Philadelphia, PA, a 1914 from Dallas, TX, a 1907 from Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN, a 1907 from Chicago, IL, a 1924 from New Orleans, LA, to name just a few.

  Artisans, including numerous volunteers and several museum employees, have authentically restored these historic trolleys. The Trolley Museum is holding an Open House to introduce prospective volunteers to the fun and excitement of operating trolley cars, Thursday, April 13 from 9:30am to 12:30pm. The Open House will happen rain or shine.

  The Open House will feature an orientation followed by a tour of the restoration shop. The orientation will conclude with individual instruction and hands-on operation of a trolley car.  All with any interest in volunteering for any facet of the Museum operations are welcome and encouraged to attend this informational Open House.

  The Seashore Trolley Museum has been operated by the New England Electric Railway Historical Society since 1939 as a 501 (c) 3 non-profit educational institution.  Its premier car, Car #31 will celebrate its 100th birthday in 2000.
