October 21st ended up being an eventful day at the Museum as shop volunteers worked on moving Cleveland Railway #1227 out from the winter workshop and replacing it with Atlantic Shore Line locomotive #100 (ASL-100). The Museum's winter workshop is an insulated box that was constructed by volunteers years ago around Cleveland #1227 to enable work to be done in the winter season. As you can imagine, Maine winters aren't too kind, and heating the entire main hall in the winter is nearly impossible. With ASL-100 the focus of the restoration program this winter, having it in the box instead of the main hall where it has resided this summer will be a benefit for the volunteers working on the project. As Cleveland #1227 approaches completion of its restoration, work that couldn't be performed in the winter workshop can now be done on the car in the main hall.
