Bus, Trackless Trolley & Rapid Transit Day
October 11, 2008

Visiting Buses
New York Subway Trains

Something other than streetcars...

Join us for a full-filled day featuring just the very type of equipment you don’t typically see running. Our bus collection is on the move all day, with rides around the Museum as well as local bus trips around town. Adding to the flavor of this event is that we welcome guests to bring their buses to show off and share with our visitors!

Is that a bus? It's attached to wires!
Come take a ride down our newly reactivated trackless trolley line. These vehicles look similar to diesel buses, but there's a big difference, their power. Trackless trolleys use electricity from overhead like a streetcar on the rails. Also, don't expect it to sound like a bus, since they're electric these vehicles are virtually noiseless.

It's a subway train not in the subway!
How can we not pass up an opportunity to share with our visitors our collection that they wouldn't ordinarily see or ride? How about a ride on a subway train down the rails through the Maine countryside? Truly a different experience. We have two subway trains from New York City you'll be able to hop aboard and ride, as well as a train from Boston that ran above Washington Street on the elevated railway.

So what does this day's experience cost you? Just the regular admission fee. Lunch will be available throughout the event.
