No. 12, a seven bench open horsecar built by Brill in 1886, is Seashore's third oldest car. Originally owned by the Fitchburg Street Railway, it eventually became the property of the quite extensive Northern Massachusetts Street Railway system. Used as a grape arbor after its sale to a private party, it subsequently was acquired in 1957 by a Seashore member, the late C. David Perry, who undertook its extensive restoration, replacing all wooden parts piece by piece. This car will be equipped with running gear once used on a horsecar operating between Haverhill and West Newbury, Massachusetts.
