The Glasgow "caur", No. 1274, is one of the Mark I Coronation class and was built by the Glasgow Corporation Transport at its Coplawhill works in 1940. Of streamlined design, it has plush and leather uphostered seats, modern lighting and heating, folding platform doors and motorman's cabs. Donated to Seashore by Glasgow Corporation Transport in 1963, it was shipped to this country aboard the S.S. American Scientist and arrived at the Museum in September of that year. It was welcomed at Boston Harbor by a large Gathering of the Order of Scottish Clans.
