The basic layout of No. 396 is duplicated in No. 475, built by the Newburyport Car Co. of Massachusetts, for the Boston Elevated Railway in 1903. It retained the side features of No. 396 but was constructed originally with enclosed vestibules and was one of the first 60 surface cars in Boston to be equipped with air brakes. No. 475 has the so called "Boston Front" - each dasher having three flat panels matching the three vestibule windows above. At this time, other cities were developing similar standardized rolling stock. Converted to a one man car (not requiring a conductor) in 1922, No. 475 was rebuilt to an electrical test car in 1928 and was acquired by Seashore in 1952.
