Car
number 31 is decked in bunting on July 5, 1999, for the
celebration of, the founding of the Seashore Trolley Museum,
over 60 years ago, on July 5, 1939, when Biddeford & Saco
Railroad Trolley #31, became the first trolley ever, to be
preserved in a museum. The car was built in 1900 by the J.G.
Brill Company of Philadelphia, and is in its 100th year of
service. (Photo by Rick Russell) |
The Seashore Trolley Museum has joined with
Yankee Magazine in their "Community Partners" program.
The Community Partners program, helps
non-profit organizations in New England, earn money for their
programs, and in turn helps Yankee Magazine generate subscriptions to
their magazine.
The program is very simple. For each $20
subscription that is generated by The Seashore Trolley Museum, Yankee
Magazine will donate $8.00 to the museum for one of its projects.
Seashore has chosen to use the money from this
program, to continue the restoration of Biddeford & Saco Railroad
Trolley #31, the first trolley to be preserved for future generations,
in a museum, anywhere in the world.
We hope that you can help us attain our goal,
of completely restoring car #31.
